He will treat you like an adult. Don't expect him to spoon feed you. But if you act like an adult, he is a great professor to have. You will learn a lot from him.

Pros: I had this class twice a week, he only made us come once a week (rarely did we have to come twice) and he never made us stay the full time. He is pretty easy when he grades papers and he also lets you redo one of them.
Cons: None
Great professor. I hate writing papers more than anything in the world and this class was easy.

Pros: very easy-going/laid back he cancelled class A LOT and everything was open book/note. don't bother buying the books it was a waste of money
Cons: it was an 8am but he rarely took attendance and since class was cancelled this wasn't too much of a problem

Pros: He is a really fun and entertaining guy! He has a style of teaching and informing that is quite different from most professors as he is not very dry or boring with lectures. I heavily enjoyed the class. I didn't really do a lot of the reading and I still got a 4.0. He even bumped some students grades up if they were right on the line. There is only one research paper due but it is in several stages so it isn't too bad.
Cons: Lots of reading assigned and the books are kind of expensive.
He is a great professor and an even better person!

Pros: He grades you fairly and if you go to his office hours, those help A LOT! And he is really patient and willing to explain after class.
Cons: a little bit accent but can be ignored.
Really nice professor and good at explaining the writing material!
And the topic just so interesting in general.

Pros: You get a decent amount of time to work on papers
Lenient grader
Helpful
Gives conferences to talk about progress of papers
Cons: None
Kiuchi is very funny (kind of sassy) but overall a pretty lenient grader as long as you have an argument in your paper. I would recommend him.

Pros: Nothing really is good
Cons: Lots of reading for one week and lectures are pretty long.
Too much readings and the articles are so boring and long. Each week I have to spend at least 4-5 hours reading the material. Some of them do not really related to class. I wish he gives more interesting ones to read.

I absolutely hate writing papers but ending up getting a 4.0 in the class. I went to his office hours and got help on topics to write about or how to make the paper better. He is willing to help if you put in the effort as well. Has an accent and speaks quietly and monotone so I did find myself almost falling asleep a few times even with it being at 12:40 in the afternoon. The grading is accurate. Gives a few little assignments here and there that are easy 4.0s. Overall wasn't horrible but I am happy to have it over with.

nice guy
if you approach him for help, he will help yo uto the n'th degree on your paper.
Cons: slightly difficult to understand at times, and grammar quizzes were abit rough. luckily they didnt count for too much of your grade though
visit office hours to talk to him about your papers. He tells you there exactly what he wants and what to change, and itl be the difference maker from a 3. and a 4. if you do that, class is realyl easy

Pros: Professor is reasonable
The material is interesting if you like technique thing
Big improve in writing after his classes
Stress logic and ideas more than grammar
Cons: The comments after paper draft is too short, you must ask him about the details.
If your are not good at idea and structure, it will be not easy.
You will never just want to tell a story, analyse is important
People really want to learn something should take this class. Professor take interest materials and assumption about the technology. In this class, technology is not just simply cellphone computer or electronics, but a lot more. And it feels great that you saw your papers and arguments could persuade professor. I feel every paper I wrote in this class is my best. Professor point out every "hole" in your logic and argument, he is very good at it. Every hard work you make this class will pay you back, because you may find it open your view and improve your technique in writing.
However, if you just decide to have a easy class and get a easy 4.0 or whatever, you should not choose this class. It will not be easy, you must pay for it. If you feel your imagination and interest in technology is not that strong, you should not take this class either.

Pros: Interesting writing topics, easy grader, very helpful with rough drafts
Cons: Quizzes on grammar are so difficult!
This was one of my all time favorite classes. First off, it never met! We went in every two weeks and he would give us a paper topic and then tell us class was cancelled for the next two weeks. Anyone who knows WRA, knows that those classes NEVER miss and usually take attendance. My guess is he didn't take attendance but he may have just known everyone since it was a smaller class. Topics are usually interesting, plus since its a radical thought class you can pretty much write about whatever view you want. I got 4.0's on all my papers except and it was honestly the easiest 4.0 of my freshman year. Take this class! Aside from the 5 grammer quizzes (which don't really count towards much) this class is a walk in the park!

Dr. Kiuchi is a really cool guy. And WRA 130 is a really weird, easy, good class.
I've never been good at writing but he makes it really easy and spells out for you really simply what he is looking for in a paper. I procrastinated quite a bit with each paper and still 3.5-4.0'ed each one. My class was about gender studies, so all 5 essays had to relate back to that. I wrote essays about public sexuality, gender roles, transvestites, and porn.
Dr. Kiuchi is really easily impressed if you step out of the box and write about controversial things.
Also, he goes on trips a lot and had to cancel class at least 40% of the time.
Easy class, good prof.

Pros: good at explaining writing prompts
helpful with papers
cancels class very often, or takes a week or two off here and there
Cons: grammer quizzes suck
projects being papers. 5 papers, last one is your final. he grades pretty appropriately, not too hard, not too easy. But is very helpful with your papers, and if you go to his office hours for a paper, its an auto .5 or 1 point higher on your next paper. Quizzes are scheduled, and are slightly difficult, but dont affect your grade much, i got a 3.5 in class and had a 50% avg on quizzes, but my paper avgs were 3.5. I had to put a lot of work into this class, but in the end was an enjoyable writing class, and it taught me a lot about how to properly research for my papers so that was great. He also cancels class a lot, and for your last paper, gives you two weeks off from class to work on it, and takes a week off twice in semester because he travels a lot.

This guy is really cool on a personal level. He tries to make the class enjoyable, but you can tell he likes it just as much as the students do themselves. He gives students a lot of online homework which means that you can stay at home instead of class on those days.

I got 4.0 on this class. The class was very helpful, but not an easy 4.0. The materials were pretty hard. You have to research a lot to get 4.0. Most of the classmates got below 3.0. Anyways there are five essays which are basically the big shit. If you dont score well on all of them you are pretty much screwed. Also, quizzes and small assignments become a big portion if you're aiming for 4.0. I missed one of the quizzes, which brought like 6 percent down from my whole grade.
However, if you want to learn Writing, you should take this class.

He is nice guy. But his grading scale is just weird as hell. If you get 6 of 10 for a quizz or an assignment, you get 0 for that because of stupid 10 point scale or something. It's so stupid. If you can do good on quizz if will be very helpful to boost up the grade. He often gives students harsh grade on paper. and it si reallt annoying that you can revise only one paper out of three papers...this class is GPA killer.

I have to say that early in the semester, I was thinking I would rate him a lot lower. What we were doing didn't make sense to me and neither did his explanations. However as time went on the assignments made more sense and I got what he was getting at in the class as a whole. I put in minimal effort on every assignment and got a 4.0. That being said, I've always done well on writing assignments. So maybe if you're not great at writing it sucks, and if you're good at seeing what the prof is looking for, it's pretty simple.

He was a really nice guy, but his class was really hard. I didn't really have a hard time staying awake in his class, but I had a very hard time understanding his point. It's a gpa killer if you're thinking of taking this class. If your not willing to put in the time and effort in writing your papers then it's not worth your time. If you want a good grade you have to go to his office hours, or spend time at the Writing Center.
